In a time when cultural entertainment impact has been recently overlooked in the Lebanese cinema industry, Public Matters Lebanon (PML) steps up with its mindful film, ‘Karkha: A Village From Lebanon’ from the docuseries ‘Homes And Heroes’, which tackles the issue of immigration.

Directed by the cause-oriented filmmaker Nassif Al Rayess, this docu-drama was honored as the ‘Best Arabic Film’ at the World Film Festival in Cannes.

Karkha offers a deep reflection on life in a small village in South Lebanon, showcasing its beauty and simplicity to both Lebanese and international communities while reminding the audience of the fundamental values of what matters most.

“Public Matters Lebanon (PML) is an advocate for integrating art as a powerful tool for communal awareness while addressing societal issues in a smooth yet impactful approach. Our success is also a result of on-going collaborations with individuals who share their love for arts and social responsibility with PML, such as Charlie Hanna, CEO of Cedar’s Foods, who supported the making of the episode ‘Karkha: A Village From Lebanon’”, says Julie BouChakra, founder and president of PML.

On the evening of September 20, 2024, the Lebanese Diaspora Village will be hosting Public Matters Lebanon, transforming its space into a unique cinema experience for 45 minutes.

Both Lebanese residents and expats will have the opportunity to watch this must-see film.
